God has a way of giving us assignments that, technically, we’re unqualified for. It’s as if He deliberately seeks out the most unlikely (and overlooked) people for the meatiest jobs. Abraham was too old, David and Jeremiah were too young, Elijah was depressed, Gideon was afraid, the Samaritan woman was divorced (five times), and Paul was a self-righteous assassin — and that’s the short list!
You see, unlike people, God doesn’t care about our résumés. Instead, He is interested in using people who can look beyond their limitations, and allow Him to display His power.
but you must focus on His ability,
not your inability.
Apostle Paul summed it up best when he wrote,
“Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don't see many of "the brightest and the best" among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn't it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses [...]. That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn" (The Message Bible).
Ultimately, everything about our lives boils down to glorifying God. That’s why He loves using “unlikely” people – and that includes you! Therefore, don’t be discouraged by your limitations. Look beyond them, because your limitations allow God’s power to shine greatly through you.
