These killers were draining Pastor Suzy’s passion for ministry – and they do the same to many of us. But, there is hope. As I wrote 5 Ministry Killers and How to Defeat Them, not only did I discover five significant ministry killers, but I also uncovered an effective way to combat them. Here’s a simple four-step process that can help us experience victory over the killers that attempt to destroy our ministries.
Step 1: Open up with vulnerability
Find a safe person with whom you can process your pain.
Step 2: Own up with humility
Admit the unhealthy ways you respond to ministry problems.
Step 3: Show up with integrity
Begin to respond to these challenges in a more healthy way.
Step 4: Speak up with courage
Gracefully speak to appropriate people about your personal needs. We all need trusted advisors who can help us serve more joyfully and effectually.
Ministry killers may lurk in your church and heart, but they don’t have to kill you or your ministry. God’s Spirit will help you recognize those killers, and His Spirit will also help you slay them.
