Deliverance from People
Deliverance from People

Have you allowed other people’s opinions of you to hold you back? If you answered “Yes,” you’re not alone. Every day, countless people shortchange their potential because someone else thought they were inexperienced, unqualified, too damaged, or just not good enough. – Well I have good news: God disagrees with them!

The Bible teaches that God has the final word. He is the ultimate authority concerning what we are capable of doing. Isaiah 2:22 states, “Quit scraping and fawning over mere humans, so full of themselves, so full of hot air! Can't you see there's nothing to them?” (The Message Bible). This scriptural paraphrase is a bit rough, but it’s true! Sometimes we forget that people are people, and God is God. The Lord’s grace is all we need. His power works best in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Never allow someone’s opinion
of you to trump God’s opinion.

It doesn’t matter who they are.

1 Corinthians 1:27-28 offers this encouraging message:

“Isn't it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks. [...] He chose these 'nobodies' to expose the hollow pretensions of the 'somebodies'? [...] Everything that we have — right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start — comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That's why we have the saying, ‘If you're going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God’" (The Message Bible).

Rahab was a prostitute, and King David was a shepherd boy who was overlooked by his own father – yet God chose to use them anyway.

The next time someone tells you that you’re not good enough, knowledgeable enough, or experienced enough – tell them, “You’re right ... but my God is!”
